What ingredients we don’t use in our sulfate-free bars—and why

Our Sulfate-Free Shampoo Bars are crafted for those who want to avoid all sulfates while still getting an effective, eco-friendly cleanse. Here’s what we leave out—and why:

SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES

Found in most conventional haircare, “fragrance” is often a catch-all term protected by trade secret laws, which means you’ll never know exactly what’s inside. It may contain phthalates and other chemicals linked to allergic reactions, headaches, hormone disruption, and more. That’s why all of our sulfate-free bars are either lightly scented with essential oils or completely unscented.

PARABENS

Used as preservatives, parabens have been linked to hormone disruption and possible cancer risks. None of our bars—sulfate-free or otherwise—contain parabens. Ever.

SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS) & SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES)

These harsh surfactants are often added for lather, but they can strip your scalp’s natural oils and irritate sensitive skin. Our sulfate-free formula skips these entirely, using Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate (SLSa) instead—a gentle cleanser derived from coconut that’s suitable for sensitive scalps and color-treated hair.

1,4-DIOXANE

A byproduct of the manufacturing process of SLES/SLS, this is a known carcinogen. By eliminating SLS/SLES from this formula, we’ve eliminated this concern too.

TRICLOSAN, PROPYLENE GLYCOL, PHOSPHATES & DYES
