The perfect partner for your shampoo, conditioner, body bar, dish bar – any bar you use! —now made from plant-based PLA for better performance and less mess.

Why you’ll love it

Let’s face it: Your bars deserve better than a soggy, staining soap tray. Our brand-new Turtle Drying Disk is here to deliver the durability, longevity, and zero-stain performance you’ve been asking for—all while staying true to Tangie’s mission of planet-first progress.

Made in Indiana, USA, using PLA+ filament from renewable sources like corn starch and sugarcane, this drying disk is plastic-free, non-toxic, and tough enough to handle daily bar use—without breaking down or leaving stains on tubs, sinks, or shower ledges. It’s the solution you’ve been waiting for.

Why We Made the Switch:

You spoke; we listened. Our original reclaimed wood disks (including pine) worked for many, but we couldn’t guarantee consistent wood types or eliminate the rare—but frustrating—issue of staining surfaces. That feedback led us to this new design.

PLA (Polylactic Acid) isn’t compostable at home (yet!), but it is industrially compostable and made from renewable plant materials. It’s a more consistent, clean-performing material that keeps your bar lifted, dry, and long-lasting.

This isn’t a perfect solution—it’s a progress over perfection step. The product works beautifully, extends the life of your bars, and helps you get the best possible experience with your plastic-free products.

How to use a drying disk soap dish

After each use, place your shampoo, conditioner, or body bar directly onto the drying disk. That’s it! Just let it rest there until you’re ready to use it again.

For best results, always allow your bars to fully dry between uses. Never leave any bar sitting in standing water. Prolonged moisture causes ingredients to break down, creating a soft, mushy bar that won’t last as long.

Using a drying disk keeps your bar lifted, ventilated, and in solid shape—helping it last longer, perform better, and stay mess-free.

The right tools matter

Extend the Life of Your Bars with the Right Drying Solution
Switching to shampoo and conditioner bars? You’re making an awesome move—but don’t skip the tool that makes them last. A proper drying dish isn’t just a nice-to-have—it’s the secret to getting the most out of every bar.

Water is your bar’s worst enemy. Letting it sit in a puddle means it will soften, melt, and disappear way faster than it should. Whether you choose our plant-based Turtle Drying Disk or use something you already own, what matters most is that your bar dries between uses.

Start simple:

  • Got a soap dish at home? Use it!
  • Don’t have one yet? We’ve got you covered.

Our drying disk is designed to work with your plastic-free lifestyle, not against it—keeping your bars lifted, dry, and in great shape, no matter how humid your bathroom gets.

We’re here to make your transition to bar hair care easy, effective, and long-lasting—because the tools you use make all the difference.

Building a business is about building relationships, not just about making the sale.

What ingredients we don’t use and why

Although the drying disks do not use any of these ingredients, it is a good reminder of why switching to natural shampoo & conditioner bars matter to your health (not just the environment).

  1. SYNTHETIC FRAGRANCES are exempt from labeling requirements and regarded as “trade secrets”. There is no way to determine what the individual ingredients are and may include phthalates. These have been linked with aggravation of asthma, headaches, allergic reactions and possible long term central nervous system disorders.
  2. PARABENS Found in many cosmetics as a preservative. Suspected link between parabens and breast cancer. Be sure to avoid deodorant containing parabens since it’s applied close to the breast area, every day for many, many years.
  3. SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE (SLS)/SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) There are nearly 16,000 studies in the PubMed science library about the toxicity of this chemical that can be found on the SLS page on Environmental Working Group’s (EWG) website. It is present in nearly all shampoos, scalp treatments, hair color and bleaching agents, toothpastes, body washes and cleansers, make-up foundations, liquid hand soaps, and laundry detergents. Although SLS originates from coconuts, the chemical is anything but natural.
  4. 1,4-DIOXANE Any discussion of SLS/SLES must include a discussion of 1,4 dioxane because the manufacturing process of SLS/SLES results in its being contaminated with 1,4 dioxane—a known carcinogen. (NOT to be confused with Dioxin)
  5. PROPYLENE GLYCOL is Primarily used as a solvent and an aid to absorption through the skin. The main concerns are that this material may be a primary skin irritant and there are possible links to liver abnormalities and kidney damage.
  6. TRICLOSAN Primarily added to cosmetics as an anti-bacterial agent. It belongs to a class of chemicals known as chlorophenols and is suspected of causing cancer in humans.
  7. PHOSPHATES Phosphorous is like a fertilizer in our water system. It increases algae and aquatic weed growth, the oxygen needed for healthy fish and aquatic life is depleted.

Frequently asked questions

Will the wood hold up in the water in my shower?

Yes, it will. These drying disks are custom made for Tangie bars from reclaimed wood from boat and dock projects in New York.

Care we recommend for the drying disk.

From time to time, clean them off. Remove the bits of soap that will get caught in the openings. Removing the soap build-up allows the wood to remain drier, ensuring your soap bar gets a nice dry spot to hang out between uses. This helps you get a long lasting soap shampoo bar, conditioner and body bar.

What are the drying disk made from?

Tangie drying disks are made from reclaimed wood from boat and dock projects in New York.

Days after started using these drying disks, I saw dark brown water under the disk when it was wet in my shower, what is it?

Wood can do that. It is not a dye and it is not harmful.
